I'ma I'ma Diva...Thanks Bey

Thursday, January 29, 2009 0
Alright Chicas,

I need a little help deciding what to feature in an upcoming fashion show I'm participating in, please help! It is required of all women participants to have a white and black piece (blouse and pants); another white and black something or other (doesn't have to be both colors); colorful graphics (where my retro graffiti artists?); and a classy/formal piece (no prom dresses allowed!). I have a few ideas of the looks I'll try to achieve, but I could go on for days, so I want some help narrowing down my options...

1. black skinnys (leather) or white trousers?
w/b checkered cardigan cinched with a black bow belt or a solid colored turtleneck or a laced, see through piece with the high neck and tie @ the throat?
w/b Oxfords (can someone please tell me what these things are called, I don't think that's their name)

2. all white! (this is debatable)
white dress (any other ideas)
w vest or suspenders?
same shoes as first scene, so think along those lines for the outfit options

3. black vest w/ graff on the back or leather aviator jacket (tan) w/ graff tank over jacket
P-I-N-K tutu!
textured tights (design options? i'm thinking red)
black/tan pumps
red button earrings or black hoops?

4. red & black checkered shirt or purple (something sexy)
3/4 high-waist pencil skirt (falls past the knee, tight all the way down -- sateen)
i'm open for suggestions on this!

*help me out ladies, hey, even the gents are welcome on this one!

Drop the Cinnabons & Shake your Bon-Bons

Evening Queens,

I'm here to tell you about a must-have that will keep you looking and feeling fabulous on the daily. What is it? Wii Fit! I'm so technologically behind, but when my ma (shout out M-A) brought home a Nintendo Wii, I knew I had to get with it or get lost! Idk how many of you were in love with Super Mario, but this is a shout out to all my videogame heads!!! Sorry, I used to be a Super N junky. Anyway, if you're like me, you have no idea how to even go about getting into this whole Wii crave so let me catch you up.

The first step is to purchase a Wii game system. It comes with a controller, 1 set of nunchucks, and a game (Wii sports, which is ultra fun also). Make your next move your best move by purchasing the Wii Fit, which is a game that comes with a board, an optional yoga mat, and the game disc.
The first time you crank it up, you might feel a little self-conscious because it tells you the truth about where you are health-wise
. Now, a lot of us don't measure our weight by hopping on the scale everyday (if you're like me, you're scared to see the result), but the game board that comes with Wii Fit takes your initial weight and allows you to set goals to get your BMI (body mass index) within normal limits. Sometimes the game can be a little cruel, but it's all out of tough love (tough love that we don't always get from our girls). It should really become an addition to your household and make its way into your everyday routine. It really works your body out in ways Super Mario never could. So instead of running out to sign up for a gym membership you'll never use, purchase Wii Fit to get it right, get it tight! Keep me posted on your success...holla!

Man of the Moment

Monday, January 26, 2009 0
Since here at Kabuki Queen we appreciate the many other KQ's out there, we also have to ask, what about the fine men that makes our inner Kabuki scream? :sigh: Well ladies let's start the Man of the Moment, and this weeks Man of the Moment is Common.

I had the pleasure of meeting him this past weekend at a radio promotional event that I won passes for. He is an incredibly sweet and chill kind of guy. Laid back of course and did I say he has it together?

Other than his flawless looks the man is talented. If you haven't picked up Universal Mind Control, get it! So here are just a few picks and a flick to enjoy....and notice my "personal" shot I got to take...teehee!

Your's truly and the Man of the Moment...more like the century!

A Classic!

Fashion Week...in St. Louis?

When everyone thinks about Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week is the first thing that comes to mind. But hold on my KQ's because St. Louis Fashion is on the come up and the Fall/Winter 2009 collection does not disappoint!

One feature that I'm most geeked about is Project:Design! Local St. Louis designers are submitting their most fabulous work to win the most coveted award of getting a head start in their fashion career with a $20,000 website to showcase their line and a $10,000 photoshoot with top international models to shoot their collection and last but not least have their collection featured in Fashion Week. Very nice might I say!

Even if your not in the St. Louis area check out the site and vote for your favorites on Project:Design! And of course I have to pub the show since yours truly will be a desser for the shows lined up!

Red Light District

Friday, January 16, 2009 0
Ladies, as the weekend begins, I'm wondering what I can do to make this cold weather cease! It's cramping my style, literally! As I sit in my room chowing down on mi ensalada (yes, I'm getting fit in the 09), I can't help but hum Green Light: John Legend & Andre 3000. It just hit me! Ladies, I don't care where you're going tonight...throw on that fire engine red dress you've been waiting to wear! If we can't beat the weather, why not dress in a sizzling color to take the chill off! Red is a MUST tonight, all you have to do is imagine that you're on a beach soaking up some sun ;) No more green light melodies, let's put a hurting on this winter weather with our red goodies! Enjoy

Fabulously yours,

Ms. Nel
